The Story Behind the Frenchie Collection

Every collection I make has a story, but the Frenchie Collection is the one that makes me feel most like myself: a little vintage, a little fancy, a little “who does she think she is,” and completely, unapologetically chic. Let me tell you where it came from.

It starts with toile de Jouy

The Frenchie Collection is built around toile de Jouy — those classic French pastoral prints, all little scenes and swirling detail, usually in one rich color on a cream background. They're old-world, romantic, and just a touch dramatic. The moment I started working with them, the whole collection basically named itself. Comfortable kisui rosh, c'est très chic.

I don't do this halfway. The toile in this collection is sourced from France — I've spent more time than I'd like to admit tracking down the right fabrics over WhatsApp with vendors in places like Pau and Toulouse, waiting for it to arrive “fresh off the boat.” There's something delightful about a print born in the French countryside getting a whole new holy life as a migraine-friendly mitpachat in Be'er Sheva. Be'er Sheva, for the record, is a bit like Des Moines with better food — so pairing it with French toile is exactly the kind of high-low mischief I live for.

Where French meets the fabric hunt

Sourcing is half the fun. When I'm not chasing French toile, you'll find me refilling my creative cup in the fabric markets of Nahalat Binyamin in Tel Aviv — which, if you've ever been to the garment district in NYC (where I spent my fashion years), sticks to your ribs the same way, just with more French than Punjab in the air. I chat with vendors, learn their stories, and build the kind of relationships that let a one-woman studio punch above its weight.

Made real, one styling session at a time

The best part is watching it land on an actual head. I got to style the Frenchie Shalem with the luminous Chana — we thumbed through my fancy fabric-cutting basket, debated matchy-matchy versus matching-the-mood, and landed on a greige toile de Jouy with a rich brunette cotton inside that made her eyes pop like WOAH.
